Switzerland for strong ties with India; may sign FTA
Mumbai, Aug 11 (UNI) Speaker of the Swiss Parliament (Upper House) Christoffel Brandli today told Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir that Switzerland wants to further strengthen cooperation with India in areas like business, trade, scientific research, education, vocational training and culture in the years to come.
Mr Brandli, accompanied by a Swiss Parliamentary delegation, is in India to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Indo-Swiss Friendship Treaty. He met Mr Jamir at Raj Bhawan here.
The delegation informed the Governor that India and Switzerland are soon going to start talks on Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.
Welcoming the delegation to Maharashtra, Governor Jamir said Swiss democracy has always served as a role model for India. He expressed the hope that increased cooperation between India and Switzerland will prove mutually beneficial for both the countries.
