Srinagar, Aug 11 (UNI) Strongly condemning the firing on peaceful processionists who were demanding opening of Muzaffarabad road for trade, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today alleged that it was planned massacre of Kashmiris.
She has also expressed deep anguish and grief over the assassination of Peoples League leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz and PDP activist Ishfaq Ahmad Kanna who were killed in police firing.
Ms Mehbooba, indirectly referring to Shiv Sena, BJP and Bajrang Dal activists, said those carrying petrol bombs, swords and other weapons were not even being lathicharged while peaceful processionists were being fired upon.
She said asking for opening of the Muzaffarabad road for trade was not any crime as then BJP-led coalition government at the Centre had initiated the move.
However, the opening of the road after 50 years become reality during the present Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's regime.
''Now asking for opening this route is not a sin which invites such an action,'' she said.
''This is a moment of utter shock and grief for all of us'', she said in a statement here this evening.
Accusing the administration of using brazenly discriminatory tactics against the protesters in Jammu and Srinagar, she said while in Jammu the protesters, carrying trishuls and swords, were reportedly offered soft drinks by the law enforcing agencies, in the Kashmir valley bullets were mercilessly sprayed on the unarmed peaceful protesters splitting innocent blood on the streets.
