Nachhatar Johal fails to deliver at Beijing

Beijing, Aug 11 (UNI) India's Nachhatar Singh Johal failed to leave his mark at the Olympics, finishing at the 23rd position in a field comprising 26 competitors after six races in the sailing event.

Johal started off on a positive note, conceding 11 points to finish fifth in Race 5 at the Qindao Olympic Sailing Centre.

The Indian sailor slipped up in Race 6, giving away as many as 24 penalty points to go down to the the 24th spot.

Johal has so far conceded 86 net penalty points ahead of the Czech Republic's Michael Maier (95), Peng Zhang (97) of China and Venezuela's Senen Bilbao (111).

Ben Ainslie of Great Britain is at the pole position, having conceded 17 penalty points.
