MYPCC entrusted with monitoring NREGS in Mizoram
Aizawl, Aug 11 (UNI) The Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MYPCC) today said it was all set to monitor the implementation of the Centre-sponsored schemes and accused the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) ministry of failing in this regard.
MPYCC president Albert Lalthlamuana today said UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had entrusted the Congress youths with monitoring the National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes (NREGS) in the state.
Mr Lalthlamuana alleged that while in Champhai district the beneficiaries got only 44 days employment, such number in Lunglei was 28 days.
On an average, the rural people received 50 days employment last year, he said adding more than Rs 30 crore had been misutilised in this regard.
Mr Lalthlamuana further informed that the youth congress was going to keep a close vigil on the activity of the government for ensuring effective implementation of the scheme.
Altogether 21 MPYCC representatives from Mizoram had attended national level orientation training held at the Andhra Pradesh state capital Hyderabad during July 23-27.
Giving a short report on the training, one of the delegates from Mizoram said about 90 per cent of people in Arunachal Pradesh were satisfied with the state government's implementation of NREGS as it had a good monitoring system and social audit unlike Mizoram.
'' The MNF government is at sea with the scheme (NREGS) and this is the reason of its poor implementation here, '' the pradesh youth Congress lamented.
