Imphal, Aug 11 (UNI) The Manipur People's Party (MPP) as well as the state Left Coordinating Committee today demanded the resignation of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief Suresh Kalmadi on the Monika issue.

This decision was taken at a public meeting held here to discuss the exclusion of Laishram Monika from the Beijing Olympics' weightlifting squad.

She was dropped for her alleged failure in a dope test which later turn out to be a wrong decision.

Former state Law Secretary L Ibomcha suggested that a complaint, amounting to ''criminal conspiracy, cheating and manipulation'' must be lodged in Delhi against the Sports Authority of India and Indian Olympics Association.

Meanwhile, the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) urged Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, state Youth Affairs and Sports Minister N Biren and three MPs from the state to go to Beijing and ''tell the world about the dirty politics in Indian sports.'' The Left Coordinating Committee, Manipur, comprising the CPI and CPI(M), informed that they would submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, demanding dismissal of the officials of the IOA, including its president Suresh Kalmadi, and others involved in the incident.

Earlier, the Manipur Chief Minister had demanded a CBI probe into the alleged manipulation by the Sports Authority of India, National Doping Test Laboratory and Indian Olympics Association.

The Chief Minister had accused the Sports Authority of India of indulging in internal politics, which was detrimental to the welfare of sportspersons.
