Karnataka Transport Department to go hi-tech

Mysore, Aug 11 (UNI) Karnataka Transport Department will go hi-tech and several measures have been initiated in this direction, Transport Commissioner Bhaskar Rao said today.

Addressing the divisional level meeting here, he instructed the department officials to see that all the RTOs offices go hi-tech within next 15 days and assured that all necessary equipments including computers would be provided to them. E-mail and internet should be their buzzward and should be ready to give any information needed immediately within the click of the mouse.

He stressed that there should be no violation of norm as while issuing licenses, permits and fitness certificates to various vehicles.

Regretting that more than 21 fatal accidents are taking place in the State every day, Mr Rao instructed the officials to take up programmes periodically to create awareness about road sense and suggested involving NGOs, NSS and NCC.
