Incessant rains lash several parts of the state
Mumbai, Aug 11 (UNI) For the third successive day today, normal life was thrown out of gear in several parts of Mahrashtra following incessant rains and land slides that had even halted the rail traffic between Mumbai and Pune.
According to sources, train services between the two cities continued to be disrupted with the Central Railway cancelling nine services, six up and three down. Local suburban services, however, were normal.
Trains cancelled are Indrayani express, Sinhagad Express, Deccan Express, Pragati Express, Intercity and Deccan queen, causing inconvinience to a number of office commuters from Pune.
The Meteorological Department has forcast intermittent rainfall with gusty wind in the city and its adjoining suburbs in next 24 hours.
During the last 24 hours Colaba recorded a rainfall of 37.8 mm and Santacruz 47.7 mm, the sources added.
The firebrigade control room said several calls of short circuit and tree uprooting were received. Some calls of wall collapse were also reported with no casualty being reported so far.
