Haryana acts to tackle grass hopper menace
Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) Following reports about the menace of of grass hoppers in a few districts of Haryana, the Agriculture Department has constituted three teams to survey the affected areas and take stock of the loss caused by this dangerous pest.
A spokesman for the Agriculture Department today said that about 32,000 acres of land in Rohtak, Sonepat, Jhajjar, Mewat and Faridabad districts was reported to be affected by grass hoppers.
He said the department was fully aware of the incidence of this pest and had taken steps to control it. A well-planned campaign was being carried out in association with the District Administration and the members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The farmers were being continuously informed about the measures to control this pest by organising farmers training camps and seminars with the help of District Administration, he added.
