Haldia Dock Complex handles 47487 TEUs container traffic
Kolkata, Aug 11(UNI) Haldia Dock Complex handled 47487 TEUs container traffic --the highest in three years--in a single month during April to July this fiscal.
A company spokesman said the container traffic handling was 40 per cent and 42 per cent higher than 33899 TEUs, recorded for the same period in 2007-8 and 33364 TEUs in 2006-07 respectively.
In respect of iron ore traffic from April to Jyly, 2008, Haldia Dock Complex handled 34.43 lakh tons against 29.83 lakh tons in 2007-08 and 20l.01 lakh tons in 2006-07 for the same period which indicated higher growth of 15.4 per cent and 18.7 per cent respectively.
From April to July, 2008-09, coking coal traffic of 20.39 lakh tons registerd a growth of 13.3 and 11.3 per cent respectively over the corresponding periods respectively in 2007-08 and 2006-7.
Dr Chanda said during the current financial year from April to Jyly, 801 vessels called at Haldia Dock Complex against 739 for the same periods in 2007-08 and 2006-07 respectively.
