Chennai, Aug 10 (UNI) Traffic congestion in the city would ease considerably, when the construction of three more fly-overs and a railway sub-way were completed by September next, Tamil Nadu Local Administration Minister M K Stalin said today.
Talking to newspersons after visiting the newly built fly-over at Usman road junction this morning, Mr Stalin said construction of a fly-over at Thirumalai Road junction would be completed by the end of this year.
The Minister said construction of a fly-over at Alandur at a cost of Rs 6.03 crore would be completed by March next and a fly-over at Rangarajapuram Railway junction, built at a cost of Rs 15.74 crore by September.
A sub-way being constructed at Maniakara road Railway junction at a cost of Rs 10.55 crore and this would be completed by March, he said adding once the construction of the fly-overs and sub-ways were completed, traffic congestion would be eased in the city.
Mr Stalin said the newly built fly-over at Usman road junction would be inaugurated by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on August 14. The two-way fly-over, built at a cost of Rs 19.80 crore would help to ease traffic congestion in the area to a great extent, he added.
The much awaited fly-over at Perambur, being built at a cost of Rs 45.67 crore would be completed by December next year, official sources said.
Apart from this, the Government was also building fly-overs at Turn Bulls Road junction at a cost of Rs 14.72 crore, a sub-way at Jones Road railway junction at a cost of Rs 4.32 crore, fly-over at Kathivakkam- Basin Road juction at a cost of Rs 12.20 crore and a sub-way at Villivakkam Railway juction at a cost of Rs 13.39 crore, the sources added.
