Ranchi, Aug 10 (UNI) Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (Progressive) president Babulal Marandi today lambasted the JMM president Sibu Soren for repeatedly approaching the UPA leaders at the Centre in his bid to become chief minister.

''Guruji should have instead gone to the people of Jharkhand to get that assignment'', Mr Marandi, also the former chief minister, told newspersons here.

''The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president has been camping in New Delhi and trying to talk to Ms Sonia Gandhi, Mr Lalu Prasad to help him replace present Chief Minister Madhu Koda'', he added.

Mr Soren instead of talking to the UPA leaders in the national capital should have the ''guts'' to face the people of Jharkhand, according to Mr Marandi.

''It seems that the JMM president has lost faith in people here'', he felt.

The JVM (P) president's statement was significant as he had been demanding early elections in the state for a long time and was leaving no opportunity to press hard for the same.

Meanwhile, the two-year-old JVM (P) started its activities to make its position in the grass roots level as it announced that district working committee meetings were held and it would be completed by August 17 in all 81 assembly seats.

He said various wings of the party would be strengthened in all panchayats and blocks, adding the exercise was expected to be over by November. ''Then, the party will hold rally in all districts,'' he informed.
