Angul, Aug 10 (UNI) Nalco Smelter and Power plant officers have threatened to go on fast unto death from August 12 if the Nalco management failed to fulfil their one-point demand by tomorrow.
The decision was taken at the general body meeting of Nalco Officers Association held recently.
The officers demanded the authorities to declare the result of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) for officers held in June by tomorrow.
Association president S.N.Sahu and secretary Arun Kumar Sahu said as per rule the result should have been announced on July 1.
The delay in announcement of the result had caused serious concern among the 1800 strong officers of the public sector company.
Association leaders said as many as 800 officers starting from E-1 rank to General Manager have appeared DPC in June for their promotion.
They alleged that the company's decision to hold the DPC once in a year instead of twice as was the practice earlier and the delay in the announcement of the result had squeezed the promotional avenues and demoralised the officers.
They claimed that the officers at the Damanjodi unit of Nalco would also stage relay dharna and wear black badges from Tuesday demanding the authorities to streamline the promotional facilities.
