Imphal, Aug 10 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged manipulation by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the National Doping Test Laboratory and the Indian Olympic Association against Laishram Monika Devi, an international weightlifter, whose dream for Olympics had been shattered.

Singh said it was a matter of shock that Monika, even after being selected for Olympics, had been pulled out from the Indian contingent in the very last minute of her departure to Beijing.

He termed it as a ''great injustice with a pre-planned motive''.

The Chief Minister pointed out that Monika was supposed to leave India at 0330 hours on August 6 in order to arrive Beijing on the same day.

As per the established procedure for dope testing for international competitions, her report was to be made available in 48-72 hours prior to her departure, according to Singh.

Before giving the dope test report to the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the SAI leaked out the report to the public on August 5, which clearly violated Rule 18.4 (Public Disclosure) of the Anti-Doping Policy.

''The report on Monika's dope test report was sent by the SAI to the IWF on August 6 at 1230 hours,'' Mr Singh said, adding it proved that the SAI, the highest authority of Indian Sports, had done a great damage to the career of the player.
