Mahatma Gandhi award for Seva Bharti
Bhopal, Aug 10: The Madhya Pradesh Government has announced to bestow its prestigious national Mahatma Gandhi award to New Delhi-based Seva Bharti for working in accordance with Gandhian philosophy.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a citation.
Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma gave the information during a press conference here on Sunday, Aug 10 He also announced other national and state-level awards.
The awardees of national awards include poetess Padma Sachdev (Kabir Samman), Hindi literateur Dr Shatrughan Prasad (Maithlisharan Gupt award), painter and sculptor Satish Gujral (Kalidas Samman) and musician Balwant Rai Bhatt (Kalidas Samman), Bharatnatyam dancer Professor C V Chandrashekhar (Kalidas Samman), folk writer Dr Shanti Jain (Devi Ahilyabai Samman) and journalist and writer Alok Mehta (Sharad Joshi award for short-essays, diary and letter writing).
The awardees of state-level 'Shikhar Samman' awards include author Dr A K Payasi, painter Dr Lakshmi Narayan Bhavsar and vilonist Basant Shevlikar.
The awards would be conferred during a felicitation ceremony soon.
The government would also honour archaeology professor Thakur Prasad Verma with the Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar award on the occasion.
