Jammu, Aug 10 (UNI) Army today recovered 3.6 kg of RDX explosive at Surinsar area near here as it has intensified counter-insurgency operations after receiving inputs regarding terrorists' designs to strike the winter capital city, an official spokesman said.
Acting on specific information, the troops of the Tiger Division operating in Surinsar area launched joint operations along with Jammu&Kashmir Police and recovered 3.6 kg of RDX, Defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.
''Earlier in May, the troops of Tiger Division had recovered a cache in village Suchani close to Jammu-Pathankot national highway. Both these areas fall along one line on either side of Shivalik hills which could a pattern of terrorist movement,'' he asserted.
According to intelligence reports, large gatherings in the wake of ongoing agitation provide anti-national elements an attractive target to engineer strike to spread terror, particularly to disrupt Independence Day celebrations.
''Normally, during such days, the terrorists attempt to strike and spare terror. May be not only the security forces but also the public will have to remain extremely vigilant against any such evil design of the anti-national elements and report any suspected movements of the terrorists to the nearest police station or Army post,'' Lt Col Goswami said.
