Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 10 (UNI) Nine bodies were recovered and 11 people rescued from the Madduru rivulet after the lorry in which the victims were travelling was washed away in the gushing waters of the rivulet at Narukalladu in this district today.
Police said four of the bodies were identified as C Saiamma, Shaik Kajabi, I Giridhar and G Samrajyam.
Most of the passengers in the lorry hailed from Pedakurupadu and 75 Thaluru Mandals. Eye-witnesses said about 50 to 60 passengers were travelling in the lorry.
Six high-speed boats were pressed into service to trace the missing passengers and the lorry was removed from the water with a crane.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will make an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari and Khammam districts tomorrow, official sources said.
