Kolhapur, Aug 10 (UNI) Heavy rains lashing the district since the last 24 hours resulted in the death of a 60-year-old man at Dhangarwada in Ganganbavada tehsil here.
The deacesed, identified as Jyotee Abaji Borekar Mane, was washed away while crossing a small flooded nullah yesterday, police said.
Meanwhile, the road traffic was also affected with flooding of the important rivers in the district, including Panchaganga. Traffic was disrupted on 24 routes, including four state highways and nine major roads, besides others.
Radhanagari and Dudhganga -- the two major irrigation dams in the district have filled to their total storage capacity and started discharging water into rivers beds, district collector office sources said. Other small and medium dams are also close to reaching the over flow level, they said.
The highest rainfall in the district was recorded at 363 mm in Ganganbavada tehsil.
