VB registers case against Agro DM for taking bribe
Sangrur, Aug 9: Punjab Vigilence Bureau on Saturday, Aug 9 registered a case against Mansa District Manager of Punjab Agro for taking bribe from a rice sheller owner of this district.
According to Vigilence Bureau DSP Roop Singh Maur, in 2006, Mansa District Manager Jas Pal Gupta, who was then Sangrur District Manager, and Punjab Agro Inspector of Sunam, Bhupinder Kumar, demanded cash from the owner of Sunam's KM Trading Company, Rajneesh Kansal, for providing him paddy for his sheller.
However, when the DM, son of former PRTC Chairman Ved Prakash Gupta, and the inspector were accepting bribe, the rice mill owner, who was accompanied by a cameraman, made a video by a hidden camera.
The owner handed over the video to the DSP. After an inquiry the Vigilence Bureau today registered a case under the Anti Corruption Act against both the accused who are absconding.
