Beijing, Aug 9 (UNI) Bajranglal Takhar opened his Olympic campaign on a bright note, finishing third in the heats to enter the quarterfinals of the men's singles sculls event of the rowing competition here today.
Takhar, who had won the silver medal at the 2006 Doha Asian Games, finished overall third in Heat four.
Ondrej Synek of the Czech Republic finished first, followed by Lithuania's Mindaugas Griskonis.
The first four finishers, out of a total of five rowers in Heat four, qualified for the quarterfinals.
The other Indians in the rowing event, Manjeet Singh and Devender Kumar (light weight double sculls) will play their preliminary round tomorrow.
