Teachers resort to mass squatting demanding Right to Education
Bhubaneswar, Aug 9 (UNI) Hundreds of teachers today resorted to mass squatting before the Raj Bhawan here demanding enactment of Central Legislation on Right to Education.
The agitation was organised to mark the day as National Demand Day for Right to Education through Common School system in response to a call given by the National Campaign Committee on Right to Education through Common School System (NCCRTECSS).
Later, a seven-member delegation led by Convener of National coordination committee of Indian Teacher's organisations Prof Abani Boral submitted a memorandum to Orissa Governor M C Bhandare demanding the Right to Education Bill be tabled in the Parliament in the coming session.
NCCRTECSS Convenor and National Executive Member of Campaign Against Child Labour Ranjan Mohanty demanded that the RTE Bill must be rooted in the framework of the common school system which would apply to all schools, including private, unaided, aided schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, all the 6,000 Model Schools proposed in the XI Plan and all other special category schools operated by the Central, state and union territory governments.
