Somnath Chatterjee stresses need for authentic information to MPs
New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Lauding the role of information and communication technologies for positively impacting the world, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today stressed the need for providing authentic information to Members of Parliament.
Delivering the keynote address on 'The Communications Challenge for Parliament: Meeting the information needs of members and public' at the 54th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia which concluded here, Mr Chatterjee emphasised the need for making available authentic information to Members of Parliament to enable them to take informed decisions, a Lok Sabha Secretariat release said.
Generation of electronic database and introduction of networking technologies have facilitated the availability of information to the Members of Parliament, he said.
He also emphasised the need for e-governance and the various new initiatives taken during the last four years to disseminate information to MPs, the release said.
He said the Parliamentary Forum had set up a lecture series on important subjects with a view to providing authentic information on highly specialised topics to the Members of Parliament, the release added.
