Chandigarh, Aug 9: About 1200 students from various schools on Saturday, Aug 9 took part in poster-making and slogan-writing competitions held at Mohali, Chandigarh and Panchkula to mark the beginning of National Level Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas celebrations.
The theme of the competitions was Renewable Energy and Global Warming. These competitions were a part of the national level function and the winners would be awarded in the main function to be held on August 20 at Panchkula.
Director of the Haryana Department of Renewable Energy Sumita Misra said Haryana was organising the national level function on the Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas, in association with the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy at Panchkula on August 20.
She said about 300 students of Mohali, 400 of Chandigarh and 500 students of Panchkula participated in these competitions.
The ten best entries, each from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, would be judged by a jury for award of prizes from the tricity.
The prizes carry a cash amount of Rs 5000 for the first prize, Rs 4000 for the second prize, Rs 3000 for the third prize and two consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each along with a certificate of merit.
