Kolkata, Aug 9 (UNI) Mohammedan Sporting today began their second leg on a dull note as it settled for a goalless draw with Railway Football Club in the second leg of the Sahara Premier Kolkata Football League in the Yuva Bharati Krirangan here.
Md Sporting, now with 17 points from eight matches and holding the pole position, could not make any solid inroad into the rival forte to score against a weaker side RFC, who were now with seven points from the same number of matches.
In the first half, Theodore Sunday and Mike Okoro combination was not at all effective to pose any challange to rival goalie Rakesh Prasad, who made some valliant saves in the second half.
After the barren first half, Md Sporting's Sabir Ali replaced seasoned Mike Okoro by Bimal Parihar and Jyotikumar by Satyajit Bose. But those changes did not make much difference, and instead RFC tested rival goalie Nasim Akhtar.
Md Sporting came to near scoring when a Bimal Parihar header was nicely fisted out by RFC goalkeeper Rakesh Prasad in the 86th minute.
Heavy rains made the field completely slushy and the players had a tough time to control the ball.
