Gheim Amandeep at tied 18th in Selangor Masters

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, Aug 8 (UNI) Gaurav Ghei and Amandeep Johl fired scores of 69 and 70 respectively to end day three of the Worldwide Selangor Masters in tied 18th place (one under 212).

Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee was leading the leaderboard with 14 under. Jaidee shot 70 and 63 in the first two rounds and was five under after 14 holes of the third round when play was suspended due to bad light yesterday.

Ghei (69, 74, 69), who teed-off from the 10th, dropped a bogey on the 11th and followed it up with a hat-trick of birdies on the 12th, 13th and 14th.

He sank another birdie on the 16th. The Delhi golfer's front nine was marked by bogeys on the second and ninth and a birdie on the third.

Johl (69, 73, 70), also tied 18th, began with consecutive bogeys on the first and second and then fought back with three back-to-back birdies on the fifth, sixth and seventh to make the turn at one under.

His back nine was then highlighted by birdies on the 13th and 18th and bogeys on the 12th and 16th.

Himmat Singh Rai (77, 66) was even par after having played 15 holes in the third round before play was suspended. He is tied 30th heading into the fourth day. Rai will resume his third round along with all those golfers who could not complete their rounds yesterday.

Earlier in the day seven Indians missed the cut at the end of round two. The cut was made at three over 145. The Indians who missed the cut were Anirban Lahiri (74, 72), Gaganjeet Bhullar (73, 76), Gurbaaz Mann (76, 75), Rahil Gangjee (77, 74), Digvijay Singh (75, 78) Ranjit Singh from Chandigarh (72, 84) and Kolkata's Ranjit Singh (80, 77).
