Puducherry, Aug 9(UNI) Floral tributes were paid to freedom fighters here on the occasion of 66th anniversary of Quit India movement today.
Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee President A V Subramanian and party functionaries were among others who paid tributes to decorated portraits of freedom fighters at the PCC(I) office.
Addressing the gathering after honouring freedom fighters on the occasion Mr Subramanian regretted that there was not much response to a request from the parent body to propogate the benefits of the Indo-US nuclear deal in rural areas and suggested that it should be done in all the parts of Puducherry at least in a low key.
He said AICC had advised the partymen to celebrate the Rajiv Gandhi birthday on August 20 as ''anit-terrorism '' day and the Mahila Congress would organise a 10 KM vehicle rally on that day.
