Mumbai, Aug 8: Two notorious gangsters allegedly associated with underworld don Chhota Rajan were killed in an encounter with police, near Ghatkopar off Eastern Express highway here today.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Deven Bharati said here that Crime Branch Unit-V of city police had received specific information that Mahesh Makwana and Raju Gupta would be coming here at 1300 hours.
Crime Branch sleuth laid the trap and when both came at the spot, police asked them to surrender however instead of doing so Mahesh opened fire.
In retaliation, duo suffered chest and head injuries. They were rushed to the Rajawadi hospital, where they were declared dead before admission, he added.
About eight to nine cases of extortion, attempt to murder and murder were registered against them in the juridication of Mumbai police commissionrate, he stated.
