Special Security Force to protect Major and Minor irrigationprojects
Gulbarga, Aug 8 (UNI) In the wake of perceived threat from terrorists, the Karnataka Government proposes to form a Special Security Force to provide security to all major and minor irrigation projects in the state, Minister for Water Resources Basavaraj Bommai said today.
Talking to newsmen at Gandorinala Irrigation Project, about 40 km from here, he said that he would soon discuss with the Home Minister Dr V S Acharya about the proposal.
He said that after a study it was understood that deploying Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for providing the security to the projects would cost Rs 25 Crores to 30 Crores.
Mr Bommai said that he would go through the irregularities, allgidly committed in the Upper Krishana project and take appropriate action against the delinquent officials engineers and contractors.
