South Indian Bank to expand NRI services

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 8: The South Indian Bank will provide NRI services through three more branches of Hadi Express Exchange in the Gulf, besides two existing branches at Bur Dubai and Sharjah.

Bank Chairman and CEO V A Joseph said in a statement here today the new branches would be opened at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Alkaima within a year.

Funds remitted through Hadi Express Exchange would be credited online to the accounts of the customers within 30 minutes for which the remitter would get an SMS.

''South Indian Bank decided to provided management support to Hadi Express Exchange as it would enable the bank to provide quality service to the NRIs in the Gulf looking at remittances to India in a technology-driven environment,'' Dr V A Joseph said, adding of the 2.15 lakh NRI customers of the bank, more than 1.65 lakh are from the Gulf region.

The bank can now speed up more NRI remittances at highly competitive rates,he added.
