New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) In view of the continuing violent agitation in Jammu over the Amarnath land row, an all-party delegation headed by Home Minister Shivraj Patil would visit Jammu and Srinagar tomorrow to help restore peace and normalcy in the state.
The decision to send the delegation was taken after the deliberation at the all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on August6 to discuss the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation would meet representatives of both Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Muslims in Srinagar to try and understand their view point and take steps to resolve the controversy.
The people of Jammu have been agitating against the revocation of the order granting land to the Amarnath Shrine Board while people in Srinagar are complaining that the agitation has cut off essential supplies of the Kashmir Valley due to which they were facing a lot of difficulties.
Earlier, the all-party meeting had issued joint appeal for restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, where large-scale violence has been continuing for the last 39 days following the revocation of land grant to the SASB.
The meeting had also called for an environment for the suspension of the ongoing agitation and initiate a process of dialogue for its resolution.
