Muslim Khawateen Markaz Chief and six others arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 8 (UNI) President of the Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM) was arrested along with her six other supporters near the United National Military Observers (UNMO) office at Sonawar here this afternoon.

Official sources said immediately after the Friday prayers were over in the Mir Syed Yaqoob Sahib shrine near UNMO office, people raised pro freeom slogans.

However, they tried to break the security force cordon around the UNMO office, when police swung into action and resorted to lathicharge.

The processionists, also raising anti Shiv Sena, BJP and Bajrang Dal slogans again entered the shrine premises.

But police remained outside the shrine and did not enter there.

Later, MKM president Yasmeen Raja and her supporters again appeared outside the UNMO office and raised pro freedom slogans.

Raja along with six others were later arrested by the police.
