Vijayawada, Aug 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today called upon police personnel to curb the Maoists menace with scientific measures and modern technology.
Addressing the valedictory function of the 51st Andhra Pradesh state police duty meet here, he said priority should be given to this and asked the personnel to deal anti-social activity with iron hand.
Andhra Pradesh stood first in the country in controlling terrorism and maintaining low and order, he said.
Earlier, Mr Reddy paid homage to the martyrs, who lost their lives in the boat tragedy at Ballemilla reservoir in Andhra Pradesh-Orissa border last month. Thirty four greyhounds personnel were killed in the Maoist attack.
He said the state government had decided to sanction Rs 4000 for rural police stations, Rs 6000 for town police stations and Rs 10,000 for urban police stations every month for their maintenance.
