Maharoof, Fernando make ODI comeback

Colombo, Aug 8 (UNI) Fast bowlers Dilhara Fernando and Farveez Maharoof have been recalled in the Sri Lanka squad for next month's Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Fernando returns after recovering from a leg injury and Maharoof has recovered from a side strain, although the selectors have decided he should not be rushed back for the India series.

All-rounder Kaushal Weeraratne will replace Maharoof for the five-match one-day series against India which starts in Dambulla on August 18.

The 15-man squad will be reduced to 14 for the India series as Jehan Mubarak will be travelling with the A team to South Africa.

The Champions Trophy gets underway from September 11 to 28.

Squad for ICC Champions Trophy: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Chamara Kapugedera, Chamara Silva, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chaminda Vaas, Farveez Maharoof, Thilan Thushara, Nuwan Kulasekera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Mahela Udawatte, Dilhara Fernando, Jehan Mubarak.
