Low pressure forms in Bay of Bengal, heavy rains in AP
Hyderabad, Aug 8 (UNI) A low pressure was formed over northwest and adjoining West central Bay of Bengal off Orissa and West Bengal Coast today and is likely to become more marked.
The Met Department officials said widespread rains were likely to occur over North Andhra Pradesh in the next two to three days.
Isolated heavy rain was likely to occur in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari and heavy rain was likely to occur over Telangana in 48 hours.
The District Collectors were instructed to take up relief activities in the marooned villages and low-lying areas.
As heavy rains poured in the city this evening, vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt in the busy Khairatabad and Somajiguda areas. People stranded in the traffic jam had to take three hours to reach their destinations. Overflowing drainages and water-logging on the busy roads could not be controlled, as people bore the brunt.
