Heavy rains hit Delhi again, traffic jams in many areas
New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) For the second day today, the rain Gods showered their bounty on Delhi with heavy rains lashing the city this morning, maintaining the coolness in the air in the city since yesterday.
The showers, which hit the city in the early morning hours, caught Delhiites by surprise, especially the office goers and the school children. Traffic jams were witnessed in many areas like the ITO crossing, Nizamuddin Crossing, Gazipur, Azadpur and Lajpat Nagar.
A total of 15.4 mm of rain was recorded till 0830 hours.
The showers brought down the minimum temperature to 24.9 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
With the sky still being heavily forecast, the weatherman forecast more spells of rain and thundershowers in the fortenoon.
The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi in the next 24 hours with a few more spell of rain and thundershowers. They, however, forecast a clearing up of the sky later in the day.
