Gujarat govt transfers cop for community discrimination
Vadodara, Aug 8 (UNI) The Gujarat government has ordered transfer of Narmada Dam site security in-charge B M Rajvanshi for his alleged discrimination against Muslim tourists, who visited the beautiful dam site in the aftermath of the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts.
The government took the action against the Inspector after the latter reportedly turned away a group of Muslim tourists, including a London-based NRI family, from the dam site recently, citing security reasons even as the visitors had entry passes.
Rajvanshi, who was posted at the main dam site at Kevadia Colony as the security in-charge for the last one year, was looking after the entire security bandobast there, which was further strengthened following the recent serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and recovery of more than two dozen live bombs in Surat city.
According to Narmada district Superintendent of Police Khurshid Ahmed, Rajvanshi was transferred to the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the district headquarters at Rajpipla, Kevadia Colony circle. He was replaced by Police Inspector G N Sarvaiya.
