Hyderabad, Aug 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the AP Transco to ensure that load shedding was reduced and withdrawn as early as possible.
Addressing a meeting with officials here, he asked them to take all necessary steps to pick up both thermal and hydro power generations, and restore power supply as per the demand in the state and if needed, also by purchasing more power from outside.
The officials assured the Chief Minister that every effort was being made to step up thermal and hydro power generations as per his guideline. They also assured him that load shedding would be withdrawn or reduced in phases within three to four days.
Mr Reddy asked the AP Genco to work on a war footing to ensure that the thermal units were supplied necessary coal and it work to its maximum capacity. He advised the Singareni Collieries and AP Genco to store coal well in advance.
Since the water level at Almatti was rising following heavy rains, there was every possibility that the Hydro power generation would pick up and power problem would be solved to a great extent, the officials said.
The Chief Minister also approved proposal to purchase non-conventional power like wind.
