United Way of Mumbai is new Charity Partner of SCMM

Mumbai, Aug 7 (UNI) United Way of Mumbai will be the new Official Charity Partner of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) 2009, Vivek Singh, Joint Managing Director of Procam International, the promoters of the Marathon, announced here today.

Charity has been an integral component of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon since its inception in 2004. In the five years of its running, the charity drive of the event has generated in excess of Rs 26 crore towards charity, with over 100 NGOs benefitting each year from it. GiveIndia was the Official Charity Partner to the event for the first five years.

''With GiveIndia's support, the event has established a strong charity platform. Now with United Way of Mumbai and its professional management team, we look forward to taking the charity drive to new heights,'' said Mr Singh.

''The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon represents an excellent platform for NGOs not only in Mumbai but also across India to leverage and help raise the much-needed funds for NGOs. We appeal to all Mumbaikars, NGOs and Corporates to play their role for making the charity aspect of this event a great success.
