Raghuvansh assures Kerala Min of assisting in water problem
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has assured the Kerala Irrigation and Water Supply Minister N Premachandran of all the required assistance in tackling the problem of pure, safe and sufficient drinking water in the state.
The assurance came after Mr Premchandran called him here today and sought assistance for the provision of on the spot testing facility and sufficient fiscal help in tackling the problem of salinity in the water available there.
Dr. Singh said his ministry was committed to providing safe drinking water in the rural areas across the country under Bharat Nirman by 2009.
He also advised the Kerala Minister to engage the Panchayati Raj Institutions in implementing the rural water supply programme and the Total Sanitation Campaign under the Bharat Nirman concept.
