Srinagar, Aug 7 (UNI) The Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir today appealed to Governor N N Vohra to save the community members from the communal forces and also provide relief to those whose houses were set on fire in the Jammu region.
In a joint statement here today, Choudhary Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswaal, State President Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Maha Saba (ABGMS) and Haji Shamsher Ali Boken, President Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwal Joint Forum (JKGBJF) demanded rehabilitation for about one hundred families of Jammu , Kathua and Samba who became victim and lost their houses and other property during recent attacks.
They demanded adequate security to the minority Muslim Gujjars of th Jammu region who are facing the brunt of the agitation instigated by various organisations.
Mr Poswal and Mr Boken said the state government has failed to protect the Gujjars from communal forces in th Jammu region.
They appealed to the Governor to issue order for deployment of adequate Army personnel in Samba, Kathua and Jammu.
The Gujjar leaders appealed to Jammuites to maintain communal harmony, mutual brotherhood and peace in the region .
Both leaders asked the Gujjar community not to get provoked and maintain communal harmony and peace.
They said Gujjars should play their role in restoring the normalcy and not to get misled by vested interests who want to create disturbance and destroy the peace and tranquility.
