Naik reviews security situation in Goa, favours strengthening force
Panaji, Aug 7 (UNI) Calling for strengthening the security in Goa in the wake of terrorist strikes in parts of the country, state Home Minister Ravi Naik today favoured purchase of modern equipment for effective policing.
Reviewing the security situation with senior police officers, including Director General of Police B S Brar and Inspector General of Police Kishan Kumar, besides chief secretary J P Singh, Mr Naik stressed on the need for introducing metal detectors at public places like railway stations and bus stands, upgrading of checkposts and deployment of boats for coastal security as part of tightening security measures.
The minister also pleaded for tightening of vigil at vulnerable areas and emphasised on maintaining cordial relations with the public for credible intelligence gathering.
