Lucknow, Aug 7 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kalraj Mishra today supported the people's agitation in Jammu and Kashmir over the Amarnath shrine board issue and said the party would take up the issue till the land was given back to the board.

Condemning the attitude of the UPA government at the Centre, the senior BJP leader said the all party meeting convened by the Centre had ignored the basic issue. '' The criticism of agitation in J and K by the Centre is deplorable and it would flare up the situation further if their demands are not met,'' he said.

Mr Mishra said the BJP had taken up the issue in the manner as the Ayodhya and Ram Sethu issues were taken. Denying the land to the Amarnath Shrine Board was a clear of ignoring the national interest, he added.

Reiterating his party demand to recall J and K Governor N N Vohra as he was responsible for 'illegally' rescinding the order of state cabinet to allot 100 acres land to the shrine board.

It is a shameless case of muslim appeasement in the country and the Congress would have to face severe backlash of the Hindu majority in coming days,'' the Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh said.

UP BJP had earlier announced that MLAs in Uttar Pradesh would stage a sit-in before the Raj Bhavan on August 12 on the issue.

Accusing Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and RJD President Lalu Prasad for opposing the ban on SIMI, Mr Mishra said it showed that these leaders were patronising the banned organisation, which was engaged in anti-national activities.
