Rajkot, Aug 7 (UNI) City police have arrested Kadar Salot, a minority cell leader of the BJP, who along with his supporters had allegedly attacked policemen leading to injuries to a constable on August 1.
Salot was arrested last night, police said. In all, 13 people have been arrested so far, under charges of rioting and obstructing police from performing their duty, police said.
Yesterday, Congress workers had staged a dharna outside the office of the City Police Commissioner here to protest police 'inaction' against Salot and alleged that BJP Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Rupani had interfered in the police case and pressurised police to omit the name of Salot from an FIR.
Salot along with a mob, allegedly attacked 'A' division police station here, after police arrested his son on gambling charges.
Police Constable Bharat Markana was dragged out and beaten up by salot's supporters in the incident on the night of August 1.
