Haryana inks agreements for 3044 MW power

Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) In a significant step, power distribution companies of Haryana--Uttar Haryana Bijlee Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijlee Vitran Nigam (DHBVN)--today signed power purchase agreements for procurement of 1724 MW of power for a period of 25 years.

The agreements were signed with PTC and Adani Power to purchase power at a levelised tariff of Rs 2.86/kwh to Rs 2.94/ kwh.

The Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL) also signed Share Purchase Agreement with CLP Power for procurement of 1320 MW power for 25 years.

The CLP Power India (P) Limited, the first ever independent power producer for Haryana, would set up a 2 x 660 MW mega status super critical technology thermal power plant in Jhajjar district.

All these agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here.

The Chief Minister described the signing of the agreements as a milestone in the direction of meeting the shortfall of 4000-5000 MW of power likely to be faced by the state by 2012 if the present situation continued.
