Srinagar, Aug 7 (UNI) Strongly condemning the attacks on six Kashmiri drivers in Jammu, chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syes Ali Shah Geelani expressed his concern over the reports of stone pelting on trucks in south Kashmir.

In a statement from his house where he has been put under house arrest for the past four days, Mr Geelani alleged that the drivers were injured by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at Samba.

He alleged that these drivers were attacked in the presence of the Army, who have actually been deployed to keep the communal forces away from the highway.

Mr Geelani claimed the attacks on the Muslims and Kashmiri drivers in Jammu region was a deep rooted conspiracy' of the administration.

The Hurriyat chairman also expressed his concern over the attacks on the trucks carrying fruit outside the valley and those carrying essential commodities to valley in south Kashmir.

He said at a time when communal forces in Jammu forced economic blockade resulting in shortage of essential commodities, petroleum products and life saving drugs, attacks on trucks in south Kashmir was unfortunate.

Mr Geelani said it was the duty of the people living on both sides of the highway to stop youths from attacking trucks.

He appealed to people, particularly youths, to hold peaceful demonstrations against the ''Indian occupation''.
