Puducherry, Aug 7: Puducherry Police resolved a burglary case with the arrest of four persons here yesterday.
Talking to newspersons here, Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) M K Agarwal said police recovered cash and porperty worth Rs 9.5 lakh from the accused.
Mr Agarwal said on July seven, A K Sankaran of Muthialpet, lodged a complaint that his house was burgled when he was away in Chennai along with his family. Initially, police suspected a maid servant Arul and interrogated him in vein, he said, adding, they then noticed the absence of Babu, who was working as a driver of Sankaran, he added.
He said police ultimately found Babu leading a laxurious life, took him into custody and interrogated him, when he confessed committing the crime with the help of his friends. Babu, who knew well the places where Sankaran will be keeping the keys of the house and gate informed his friends Vinodh, Hariharan and Manivannan, that he will be taking Sankaran and family to Chennai on July six, he added.
He said Babu also revealed the places of the key and asked them to burgle the house. They committed the crime and handed over the booty to Babu. Since Babu was with the family,they did not suspect him, he added.
He said materials purchased by LTTE cadres, allegedly from Puducherry was available in all places. The security was tightened in Puducherry and Karaikal regions, he added.
On the issue of making helmet compulsory for two wheelers, Mr Agarwal said, it will be removed henceforth and the police would create awareness on the riders.
