Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) Central Air Command (CAC) will cross swords with Western Air Command (WAC) in the final of the Air Force Hockey Championship at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here tomorrow.
CAC caused a mild upset as they defeated formidable South Western Air Command (SWAC) by 3-1 in the semi-final match played today. They gave the first jot to SWAC in the second minute itself as AP Singh dribbled his way into the circle before scoring a good goal.
Displaying better coordination, CAC got their second goal through Minhas in the 18th minute. SWAC who remained unbeaten in their league phase, just managed to score their solitary goal in the 43rd minute through Manish.
In the first semi-final Western Air Command had to work extra time to snuff out the stiff challenge of Training Command by 3-2 in extra time after sharing four goals in the regulation period.
In the dying moments of the second half of extra time, Satvir Singh snatched the match winner for WAC and guided his team into the final. S Singh (49th) and Satvir Singh (56th) scored for WAC in the regulation period. S Singh got both goals of Training Command, first in the 39th and second in the 47th minutes.
In the classification matches, Eastern Air Command grounded Air Headquarters by 3-2. AK Yadav (2nd and 48th minutes) and M Singh (22nd) scored for EAC. Ramrajan (28th) and Negi (47th) reduced the margin for Air HQ.
In another classification match, Maintenance Command defeat Southern Air Command by 2-0. Gaurav and Talwal scored in the 18th and 48th minutes.
