New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Accusing the BJP of 'playing politics' on the Amarnath issue, Dr Prabha Thakur, chief of Congress women's wing, today said while the party was ''adding fuel to the Jammu tussle'' with an eye on the Assembly elections, on the other hand it had ''ignored'' the Naina Devi incident as that would not help them get political mileage.
Drawing a parallel between the Naina Devi incident in which over 150 people were killed and scores injured and the Shrine Board issue, Dr Thakur said the two instances may be totally different but have exposed the BJP's ''dual faced politics''.
''It was trying to divide the people on religious lines in Jammu and Kashmir, but has shown least concern for the Naina Devi victims.'' She alleged that the Himachal incident happened because of the state BJP government's inept handling of the situation at the religious place.
Asking the state government to give compensation of at least Rs ten lakh and a government job to the next of kin of the victims, she said the incident could have been avoided had the government taken enough preventive measures.
