AP Govt will distribute forest rights deeds to tribals
Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Minister Redya Naik today said the forest rights title deeds would be distributed to the eligible tribal families under Recognition of Forest Rights Act, 2006 on August 15 in the state.
Addressing the press here, Mr Naik said the government had prepared a road map in January 2008 for the implementation of the Act. As per the road map, the title deeds would be issued to all beneficiaries by October 30.
The process of verification of claims, survey and mapping was taken up with prior intimation to the forest and revenue officials.
Stating that the government had sanctioned and released Rs 20 crore for effective implementation of the Central Act, he said survey teams were provided with Global Positioning System (GPS) for survey and mapping of the claimed area.
