New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Delhi Power Minister A K Walia today instructed DISCOMs to ensure power arrangements to meet requirements in the coming months of September, October, November and December.
Addressing a High Level Weekly Power Review Meeting, attended by Power Secretary Rajendra Kumar, senior officers of Power Department DTL and CEOs of three DISCOMs, he told Discoms to assess anticipated demand of power so that consumers might not feel being left in lurch during these months.
Dr Walia, further directed DISCOMs to make suitable system upgradation to meet expected growing requirements in those unauthorised colonies, which are being regularised by the city-government.
Dr Walia said the city-government is committed to provide uninterrupted power supply in all parts of the Capital including unauthorised colonies where demand is bound to increase after regularization of colonies.
It was also reported that demand of power during July has gone up by 1.14 per cent in comparison to demand during the same period last year. Dr Walia said situation was much better uptil March.
After that the DISCOMs have not given due attention on system upgradation, which is one of the major causes of breakdowns. He further directed them to ensure system upgradation in unauthorized colonies.
It was stated in the meeting that the city-government will spare an amount of Rs 225 crore per annum to meet subsidy on restricting monthly consumption upto 150/200 units during non-peak and peak months.
Dr Walia said out of nine lakh consumers of NDPL 3.10 lakh, out of 13 lakh of BRPL 6.10 lakh and out of 9.75 lakh consumers of BYPL 5.30 lakh consumers availed this opportunity offered by the city-government.
He also instructed DISCOMs to intensify campaign to promote CFL Bulbs. It was decided that more stalls would be commissioned in different parts of the city apart from inserting advertisements in newspapers.
The DISCOMs also reported status of implementation of guidelines regarding issue of uniform to their field staff.
