Mumbai, Aug 6 (UNI) Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty will make her television debut as a host in an Indian reality show ''Big Boss Season 2'', that will be telecast on 'Colors' channel from August 17.
''I would be the connection between the contestants ('housemates') and the world and hope that I can add entertainment value to the series with a human touch,'' Shilpa said at the announcement event here today.
The highly anticipated show, based on the hit series-''Big Brother'', which was Shilpa's claim to fame, will have her looking after 14 contestants, who will have to live together for 12 weeks under the glare of 32 cameras for the show that would be telecast daily, including a live telecast from midnight to 0100 hrs.
Talking to media, Shilpa Shetty said she believed that she fit the bill as a host as ''she had been there, and done that'', and would be able to emphathise with the contestants. ''But it will not be easy for them,'' she added.
Recounting her '' Big Brother'' experience, Shilpa Shetty said she took part out of sheer confidence and never expected to last for more than a week, as it was tougher than it looked. ''Although I would never participate (again) in a show like ''Big Brother'' or ''Big Boss'', it will be a learning curve for all the participants and will reveal who they really are,'' Shilpa said.
''For audiences, it would be a good opportunity to see what gossips are made of and be entertained at someone else's expense.'' ''We have a lot going for the show to be a success - this is the first reality shown on a daily basis with a live version to feed the voyeuristic appetite of the audience. Plus we'll have news makers not celebrities as participants and Shilpa Shetty as a host,'' Colors Channel Managing Director Deepak Dhar said.
